Celebrating the Graduating Class of 2020

Celebrating the Graduating Class of 2020
Posted on 05/11/2020

We know that this was not the senior year that 2020 graduates had hoped for.

While there will be commencement ceremonies in the fall when we can ensure the safety of families and staff, we can try to find creative ways to celebrate the class of 2020. So we're asking them.

Today, we sent each grade 12 student a link to participate in a discussion. We asked them one question: What are some ways we can celebrate the class of 2020 while following physical distancing recommendations?

We asked for their feedback by May 15th.

As well, we've created a planning group of principals who will come together and discuss June recognitions and fall commencements.

We also know that graduation celebrations are important moments for the entire school community. So, parents/guardians and staff are also welcome to share their suggestions with their principal, or with the district by emailing [email protected].

The accomplishment of our graduates is a deep source of pride for the OCDSB.

COVID-19 may have forced the delay of grade 12 commencement events until the fall, but we remain committed to recognizing their incredible success and achievement of all graduates of the Class of 2020.
